This is an outstanding TV. Are there better TV’s out there? Sure, but you’ll end up paying multiple thousands of dollars for them for a negligible improvement over the P50G10. The picture on this television is simply amazing. Blu-rays really pop and high-def TV won’t leave you disappointed. Standard definition is acceptable, and this TV does a great job rendering the picture, but it’s a let down compared to a high-def picture.
The THX picture settings are a bit dark, but be assured the picture is still great. I’ve opted to set my unit to the custom settings as published on CNET. I find the picture to be a little brighter and still just as good as THX to the untrained eye.
I’m not too crazy about the remote. Some of the buttons are too closely space, which means you may accidently hit the wrong button sometimes. However, I’m using my cable DVR remote most of the time, so it’s not a major annoyance. Hoping to upgrade to the Harmony One at Christmas so I can ditch the four remotes I have now (yikes!!!).
I can’t really speak to the audio quality of the speakers. I’m running most of my sound through my HT system. I do have the audio/video from my Wii connected to the TV, and it is adequate considering the Wii is not an audio/video powerhouse.
Lastly, I have to brag a little, but I got my P50G10 for $999 along with a BD60k for $269. I was able to snag the TV and Blu-ray for cheaper than most places are selling just the TV. Also, it appears to me that the P50G15 is taking the place of the G10. The only difference between the two is about two inches of thickness, which doesn’t really justify the extra $ in my book. Buy the G10 instead, you won’t be disappointed.
Excellent picture quality for the money makes the Panasonic TC-PS1 plasma the best value among large-screen flat panels
